The Church Compliant
"Ever since Christ's ascension, world history has been a mopping-up operation. The Church Militant, so long as she is The Church Obedient, will be The Church Triumphant as well." The Days of Vengeance by David Chilton, pg. 324.
The Church hasn't been any of these for at least 70 years. She started fading after WWII, as people doubted God after all the violence and horror of war. Many had their faith strengthened by the war, but it seems like many more began doubting. This slow decline went on for some time, but gained steam in the late 60's. Since then, much of the Church no longer warns of sin and judgment. Rather, she seems to want the World to like her, to see her as 'nice'. She refuses to warn against homosexuality, lust, greed, and all forms of perversion and evil. She says, "We need to meet people where they are." No. You need to call them from where they are, in the muck and mire of impending eternal death, call them to rise to eternal life in Christ Jesus! You do NOT excuse their sin. That is not an arrogant statement for we are ALL sinners!
One cannot claim Christ and continue in sin! If you are a homosexual, an adulterer, a thief, etc., you cannot claim Christ unless you turn away from those things, repent of them, and throw your trust, hope, and faith in Him who died on the Cross for your sins! Once saved, you cannot return to what you left. Any who tell you differently are lying to you. They are of their Father the Devil. He was a liar and a murderer from the beginning. You MUST be born again, born of the spirit. Even after we are reborn, we will still sin. Yet, we will hate our sin, and strive with all our might, and the strength of the Holy Spirit, to overcome said sin. We can never return to our old way of life, for we are a new creation, and the old must die. This is a life-long process.
Scripture says, "Friendship with the World is enmity with God." James 4:4
So, why is the church trying to be friends with the world? She has turned away from Christ. Many a church think they can win souls with this made-up Christ of theirs. They wrongly believe that He will excuse certain things, that by saying words someone is saved. Fools! Speaking words that have no heart-meaning are worthless! Professing to love Jesus while continuing in your sin is putting the lie to your profession. You are false, and perhaps don't even know it.
This is mainly the fault of the clergy. They have become complacent, or they've been turned by wolves in sheep's clothing in the seminaries and colleges. God's Word is plain, yet they twist if for their own evil ends. Also at fault are the rest of the congregation, who do NOT study their Scripture, and therefore are led astray. "The greatest commandment is that you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second is like unto it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two hang all the Law and the Prophets." Mark 12: 29-31 WE are called to study the Word, so that we may not be led astray! So we also share in the blame. We've so twisted the word 'love' that it no longer resembles anything intelligible. We think that unless we affirm someone's twisted beliefs, we're not loving, or that if we disagree with someone, we must hate them. If you love someone, you will warn them of danger. In many cases, the dangers we warn pagans of are things that will destroy their immortal souls! How is that unloving? Does it hurt their feelings? Yes! So what! So you would rather they continue on a path to destruction? Do you think you will escape judgment with that thinking?
The Church needs to be reminded that Christ has already won. As Chilton puts it, this is a mopping-up operation. Satan has already lost. He knows this. This Nation is under God's Judgment because we've forgotten this. We will pay a severe price for it. Still, despite our fall, the Church will become stronger. Maranatha!
