The Bully Bird in the Area

 Critters provide me with endless fascination. There is much to see in Louisiana, and there is no shortage of critters that amaze me. Alligators, turtles, and a variety of birds provide much wonder and amusement. This post deals with birds, in particular, the Northern Mockingbird. It's a very pretty bird, but it is also a bully. I know that many birds are territorial, but these guys go out of their way to harass other critters.  We have Black Vultures down here. They eat dead things for the most part. Every so often, they perch on power poles or on the supports of a water tower across the street. This drives the Jays crazy. They will fly up to the supports and harass the Vultures until they leave. Same with the ones perched on poles. I watched one flying around one on a pole for a bit, then start bumping the vulture's rear with his feet. You could almost hear the vulture sigh and think, "Really?" This went on for a good 5 minutes or so before the vulture left. Then th...

Random Thoughts

 Here in Louisiana, there is an amazing amount of wildlife. I was watching a group of 7 Black Vultures riding the air currents, and I was amazed. Of course, I had a brief moment of anthropomorphism, wondering if they took joy in that soaring. We know that the higher primates, gorillas, chimpanzees, etc can experience joy, anger, and sorrow, but I wonder about other creatures. I am frequently amazed by God's creation and the thoughts and questions it produces. As this Nation, and the West drift further and further away from God, we see the destruction and evil it brings. We've been witnessing this in the reprobation of the minds of many, so much so that they refuse to acknowledge what a man and woman are. They continue in their quest to murder the unborn, to confuse and then mutilate the bodies of the young.
